Catherine Harold is retired from a long career in the environmental field where she worked in several capacities as a field biologist, engineer, consultant, regulator, and policy developer/analyst. Catherine was instrumental in the development of Virginia’s fish passage and nontidal wetlands program during the 1980s at the Virginia Council on the Environment. She managed the Virginia DEQ Wetlands and Water Protection Permit program as well as the engineering division of the Chesapeake Bay Local Assistance Department. She also spent several years at large engineering firms, serving as a project manager for numerous large infrastructure projects. In this capacity she was able to employ her expertise in stream and wetland ecology, mitigation design, and stormwater and erosion control design. Catherine holds numerous certifications in her field and served as a representative on several state and regional workgroups and advisory committees. She is a fellow of the Virginia Natural Leadership Institute. Catherine’s love of botany, streams and wetlands has always been a mainstay interest extending back to her childhood.
